While Greig Coetzee’s script may have the occasional wobble neither director Peter Mitchell nor the two talented actors Mpilo Nzimande and TQ Zondi wavered in their task. Termite, a collection of three satirical stories offered in the style of physical theatre, was sheer delight from the first moment. The formality of folk style narrative blended perfectly with the nimbleness and flexibility of contemporary physical theatre in this endearing and entertaining production

The Others is a delicate yet forceful story set in the platteland. Sarie, the eldest daughter, shows enthusiastic initiative and a sweet willingness to take her full share of the family chores. When her mother dies and her elder brothers fail to step up to their responsibilities, it is to Sarie that  her hard, uncompromising father turns, handing her a bunch of keys as a symbol of her new status. But the keeper of the keys carries a heavier burden than domestic responsibility…..

University is a life changing experience and first time students can find it all quite overwhelming. The sheer scale of Wits University, located in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, with its many campuses, hundreds of lecture rooms, new processes, lecture schedules and umpteen activities take some getting used to. Orientation Week at the university is meant to help out with that process. Wits Theatre’s O Week programme of plays and music concerts is designed to ease new and returning students into the academic year and make the first few weeks at university as memorable as possible.
