As musicians Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin waited for Nibs Van de Spuy to call them up on stage I had the weirdest feeling of déjà vu. For although the scene took place a few days ago  in Durban, South Africa, I had a sense of a different time and setting, carried as a miasma around these two minstrels as surely as if they had been dressed in medieval clothes and standing on a floor strewn with rushes.
