When one thinks of WWI and its accompanying harsh reality one automatically thinks of Anne Frank's diary. However, there are many more tales which, although not penned at that time, provide insight into a world of secrecy and covert actions. 'The Book Thief' is a poignant tale of a child having to carve a new life with adoptive parents under the Nazi regime.
